If you could live anywhere, where would it be and why?

If I could live anywhere in the world I would live in Hawaii.  I love the beach but have never got to spend more than a couple of hours there once every like 3 or 4 years. I think that being able to live on the beach ALL the time would be absolutely amazing! I know that Hawaii isn’t all beach and I think that is why I would want to live there. They also have farm land and mountains and jungles.

Hawaii would be perfect which is why I have applied for an internship there this summer. I really hope that I get it!

Happy New Year!

I rang in the New Year at a friend’s house with fancy foods and champagne. It was great!

I asked people in my last post what I should do for my New Year’s Resolution and the votes on in.

I’m going to update my blog weekly.

I’ve wanted to get better at blogging for a while and just never find the time for it, but I’m going to try REALLY hard.

I’m also going to attempt to make a homemade meal from scratch every week but I am in grad school so who knows if that is actually going to happen. I’ll keep y’all updated on that since I WILL be updating more regularly.

I’ve never been one to make new year resolutions because I know I suck at consistency. Over the last couple of weeks I have been trying to figure out what I want to do for the new year.

I want to do something, I just don’t know what.

First I will share my list of the things I have thought about doing.

1. Post a picture to Instagram every day.
2. Update my blog weekly.
3. Read one classic book every month.
4. Go to the gym.
5. Start the $5 savings plan.
6. Stop using my debit card and go to cash only.
7. Cut soda from my diet.
8. Learn a new hobby, like knitting.
9. Make a dinner from scratch every week and blog about it.

Now some of these seem completely impossible for me, but at the same time I want to try something new. I’m not sure how this is going to work for me and who knows if I will actually be able to complete any of them. I still want to try SOMETHING.

So this is where you, my lovely readers, come in to play. What do you think I should try to do next year? Is it something from my list or something else? Let me know, I honestly want your opinions.

Oh, and don’t forget to share what you want to do for the new year!

Dear UALR,

The last five years have been great. You were my safety school, but I’m so glad that I chose to get my degree here. For the last five years UALR and the people working here have shaped me into the person that I am today.

UALR became my home when I didn’t know where else to go. For five years I have lived here. For four years I have worked here. I couldn’t have asked for a better school.

It’s really sad, leaving the place that you feel comfortable. But that’s the thing about growing up, you have to leave your comfort zone even if you don’t want to.

So UALR, thank you.

Thank you for preparing me for my future.

Thank you for being my home for so long.

See ya later UALR,

Freshman Year!

Graduation Day!

I keep forgetting that I have a blog. Oops, I will try to get better but I doubt it happens.

I graduate from college in 33 days. That is very exciting.  It’s taken me 5 long years but it’s finally going to happen!  My family is coming in to see my graduation ceremony because they think it’s a big deal.  I think it is going to be boring because I’m a “Z”.  That means I’m last…whoo hoo!

I will be attending grad school in the fall and in just a short 2 years I will have a Master’s Degree as well! Then I have to go out and join the “real world”.  I’m just glad I get to put it off for another two years!

Oh well, this is an exciting time of year and everything is starting to fall into place.  I have so many people to thank for getting me here.  I guess that means I have to start those Impact blogs again, huh?

This last weekend I celebrated my golden birthday. I turned 23 on the 23rd.  I had been looking forward to that day since I learned what a golden birthday is.  I have to admit that my birthday was not all that golden.  It was honestly one of the worst days I have had in a while.

I was at a conference interviewing for jobs, in a city that I had never been to, with no one there to celebrate with me. It was horrible.  I had to leave, so I did.  My interviews went great though in case you were wondering but I’ll talk about that a different day.

When I made it back to Little Rock a friend made me leave. She wouldn’t allow me to sit alone on my birthday so we went to the Lanterns! festival.  It was not what I was expecting at all but I did get to release a lantern and that was pretty cool.

Releasing the lantern

And then I came home and enjoyed some time alone.  But the next day is what I want to talk about.  The 24th is a good friend’s birthday so we went out for dinner and just talked about life and how everything was changing for us.  It was awesome.  Then we came back to my apartment to watch The Walking Dead with some of our other friends.

What happened next was not expected at all and I am so thankful and happy to have some amazing friends.  Well, my friends showed up at my apartment with pizza, a cake, noise makers, and birthday hats.  It was amazing!

They wanted to celebrate my birthday with me. And to celebrate Stephen as well. I honestly have no idea what I would do without these people. They are some of the best people that I have ever met and I’m so glad to call them my friends.

So, BriAnna, Brady, Matt, Sergio, Decarlos, Jordan, and Tyler, thank you for taking the time to come and celebrate with me. It really did mean a lot and it made my sucky birthday into a pretty amazing birthday weekend.

What are the 5 things that make you most happy right now?

Since I’m a day behind anyway you guys get two posts in one day. Woah! I know I’m awesome.  And here we go…

1. Gossip Girl. I know what you’re thinking but I like mindless television and this show is full of drama.  It’s very addicting and it satisfies my need for drama.

2. My friends. Between last night and today I have realized how amazing my friends are.  They randomly show up in my room with toilet paper origami, we make up awesome games with brooms and footballs, and we save lives together.  This is truly an amazing group of people.

3. My job. I might complain about it, but I love it.  It’s amazing and it’s everything I wished it could be.  I’m so happy to be a part of UALR Housing as we grow. It’s an awesome thing to be a part of and I’m so grateful.

4. Curling up in a ball. This makes me really happy right now because I am super stressed and I can just curl up in a ball watch trashy tv and not worry about anything. Plus I have an awesome teddy bear to cuddle with.

5. My dog. She might not be here with me, but she always makes me happy. I love that little ball of fluff.

Look at that face!
