June 2011

So, I walk in to my kitchen around 10 tonight and I see my grandpa sitting there trying to hollow out a green pepper surrounded by other veggies. I asked him what he was trying to do. He told me that he was making a salad. I decided to help him since it was taking him a while to cut up the pepper and he had 3 other veggies to go.
He told me stories about him being a vegetarian for 6 months while Guam. He said sometimes he just really wants a salad at 10 o’clock at night.

My family is strange but it’s nice to know that I’m not the only one who makes a salad at 10.

My mom's side of the family

So this summer has been very interesting for me.  I was trying really hard to get a job but that didn’t happen so instead I’ve spent lots of time with family.  My mom’s side of the family had a little get together one Sunday afternoon because my cousin from Michigan was going to be in town.  So, my mom, sister, brother-in-law, and nieces also came down.  This was the first time that a lot of the family had every met.  The lst time everyone was together was for my cousin’s wedding almost 9 years ago.  A lot has changed since then so it was nice to have everyone here.

My dad's side of the family...well the cousins anyway

I also went to see my dad’s side of the family.  This only happens every 2 years or so.  I go up there and they always have some kind of little get together so that everyone can see me.  My cousin said that is was like Christmas because that’s the only time everyone gathers.  It made me feel special.  My cousins are great, they always make me feel welcome and like I am a part of the family.  This means a lot because living half way across the country means that they don’t really get to see me or get to know me on a regular basis.

This summer really has stressed me out and I still have a month to go, but on the bright side of things I saw family that I haven’t seen in a while.  I went to Hershey Park.  I drove a  Suzuki Forenza that didn’t have any problems.  I’ve been to the lake.  I’ve been to the beach.  And I’ve slept…a lot.

I love this kid!

Okay, so it’s been a while since I blogged…but I don’t have internet at home so I am currently sitting at Starbucks stealing their internet.  Well I’m not stealing it since it’s free.

I am waiting for my dog to get done getting groomed.  I have realized this morning that there is nothing to do in Little Rock while you sit and wait for something to get done.  I’m waiting for a friend to get back with me about lunch and until then I am just sitting here…it’s kind of boring.  Okay, really boring.

This summer is going to be hard for me.  I still don’t have a job.  I have put in about 15 applications ALL over the place for a number of different kinds of jobs.  Retail, clerical stuff, food service, hotel service.  EVERYTHING.  I got two interviews but both of those jobs decided to go a different direction.  It’ bothers me because I am a very hard worker and I don’t call in sick and I do what I’m asked.  But no one is willing to give me a shot.  It bothers me because back when I had NO expeirence a lot of places wanted to hire me, but now that I have AWESOME recommendations and I have done a little bit of everything, no one wants to hire me.

This sucks because I have bills that I have to pay and without a job I can’t pay these bills.  Then they are going to send bad people out to look for me and rough me up to get the money.  I guess the only good about this is that I might get to go to New Jersey since I don’t have a job…I miss my family.

Oh well…I’m trying really hard to be positive about this, but it’s getting hard and I’m running out of time.
